See the SixPence story on the About page.

What is a SixPence?

Where do the vintage pieces for the clutches come from?

We purchase vintage items online, at flea markets in cities around the world and pretty much anywhere else we can get our hands on quality vintage items!  We do everything in our power to ensure all vintage jewelry is in excellent condition, but please keep in mind that these pieces are vintage items and some wear may be present. Please look at the detailed photo of each item to see the condition. If you would like more information on a specific piece, please contact us at [email protected]

What if I want to attach my own vintage piece?

We think that’s a great idea and fully support it!  We sell our evening clutch on a stand-alone basis with no jewelry attached.  This allows you to attach your own piece of special vintage jewelry.  If you would like help with this please send us an email.

What if I just want to order an emergency kit?

You can do that, too.  See here.

As a wedding planner, do you have any tips of items that I’ll need outside the emergency kit on my wedding day?

Having planned over 100 weddings, we think beyond the kit, here are a few additional items you may want to consider:

  • Hairspray
  • Lint Brush
  • Double Sided Tape
  • Corsage Pins
  • Pain Reliever of choice
  • Blotting Papers
  • Tampons
  • Power Bars
  • Lots of water!

Where does the “borrowed” line from come?

It comes from the poem “i carry your heart” by E.E. Cummings.

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in

my heart) i am never without it (anywhere

i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done

by only me is your doing, my darling)

i fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want

no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)

and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant

and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows

(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud

and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows

higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)

and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

– E.E. Cummings
